About

Swiss rider Dominique Aegerter enters his third season in WorldSBK and it’s his third consecutive one with the GRT Yamaha outfit. He scored podiums in his first season at the end of 2023 but a disrupted build-up to 2024, and then injury mid-season, meant last season was a trickier campaign for the #77. He’ll be aiming to get back to his podium-chasing best in 2025.

Yamaha (2023-)

After winning two consecutive WorldSSP titles, Aegerter made the step up to WorldSBK for 2023, remaining with Yamaha but linking up with the GRT Yamaha squad. It was a relatively quick adaptation period to the Yamaha R1 for the Swiss star, who was almost instantly a top ten contender. He ended his rookie campaign with two rostrums, including in Race 2 at Jerez as he got the best seat in the house for an epic Razgatlioglu vs Bautista fight. He was on the back foot throughout 2024 though, after missing testing and then picking up shoulder injuries mid-season while training. Nevertheless, he still secured top ten finishes at the season-ending Spanish Round.

WorldSSP

In 2021, Aegerter moved to WorldSSP with Ten Kate Racing Yamaha and took the Championship by storm as he won two consecutive titles and finished on the podium 35 times in his 44 races across 2021 and 2022; this included 27 wins, 17 of which came in a record-breaking 2022 season; in the same season, he competed in MotoE™ and won the World Cup in the electric class alongside his WorldSSP success.

Before WorldSSP

Aegerter had a distinguished career in Moto2™, competing in 168 races in the intermediate class and taking eight podiums including two wins in a career that spanned 10 seasons. Prior to that, ‘Domi’ had three full campaigns in the 125cc World Championship, while he also has experience from the German IDM championship.
